the sea coral is dying
but is anyone keeping an eye on the moss? especially at this hour when the light trickles through its fingers like thoughts under an awning, or in a forest? between two slats of concrete, where it makes a slow, almost imperceptible march. what if the moss and the sea coral are working in concert? the sea coral’s flood of colors is a parlor trick. a simple bait and switch, but by the time you find out, the moss has already jumped out from behind a tree and it has you pinned to the ground and everything goes green and soft. or maybe it’s nothing. but it is sinister the way beetles gather over the moss like they are plotting.
